Most metals are reactive enough to not exist in their
free state in the Earth’s crust and are
found in compounds called ORES.
The more reactive a metal is, the more likely it will
be found in an ore.
•They either occur as their oxide or sulfide.

Bauxite (Al2O3) is an ore of aluminium.
Haematite (Fe2O3) is an ore of iron.
Zinc blende (ZnS) is an
ore of zinc.
