Water & Seawater
Water is a neutral molecule made up of two hydrogen atoms sharing electrons with a single oxygen atom.
It’s not quite as simple as that because water molecules dissociate into hydrogen an hydroxide ions.
There’s a plentiful supply of water.
The oceans contain most of the worlds water reserves.
–72 % of the earth’s surface is covered with water.
–The volume of oceans in the world is 1.35 ´ 109 km3.
–97.2 % of earth’s water is in oceans.
However, sea water is unfit for home use because of the high level of salt dissolved in it.
Surprisingly large amount of water is also locked up in the polar ice-caps.
