 Most of the metals and all metalloids are in the SOLID state of matter at room temperature.
Non-metals can be solid, liquid or gas.
Liquids:  Mercury and Bromine
Gases:   Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Oxygen, fluorine, Chlorine & the
  Noble gases
Solids:   Every other element
