The state symbols indicate the physical
state of the substances.
–s = Solid
–l = liquid
–g = gas
–aq = aqueous (dissolved in
water, in other words in solution)
You should by now know the
physical states of most of the elements and be able to supply the state
symbol for any element that appears in an equation.
